TombstoneBeing an Eagles fan since age 3, I’ve seen some of the best and worst moments of the team in the last 30+ years.  The highs have included the 4th and 26 McNabb to Fred-X pass to rally to beat GB in the 2004 divisional playoff, the Miracle in the Meadowlands in 1978 and the Monday Night Randal Cunningham “Nice to meet you Mr. Banks” play.  The lows include the Chris Boniol Monday Night FG blunder in 1997, the Bounty Bowl (maybe that’s a high) and the losses in SB XV and XXXIX.

Last night, I realized that this 5-6 year stretch of dominance is done in the NFC and that the beginning of the end is nigh.   I feel bad for fellow Philly fans as we never reached the top of the mountain and now we are falling down the back side.  It’s obvious from the poor gameplans that Andy Reid’s mind is elsewhere and rightfully so.  McNabb is trying to stay healthy so he can get out of Philly in one piece next year.   He’s probably got one foot on the train to Chicago already.  The offensive line is so dinged up and old they can’t pass protect for anyone.  And poor Jim Johnson doesn’t seem to have enough players on Defense to executive his elaborate schemes.  Do you really think he schemed to leave Terrell Owens wide open?

What does this mean to the fantasy players?  Well, unless you are in a PPR league, I would avoid all Eagles at this point.  The only one worth his salt is Westbrook but he’s bound to get hurt soon if he’s the only target in front of the LBs.  Maybe LJ Smith will get some of those dump offs over time but the WRs should be dumped and McNabb should be traded off your roster.  If you’re in a keeper league and have the room, I’d pick up Kevin Kolb because someone will have to throw the ball next year when they without McNabb and behind by 21!
