SurvivorWith the difficult NFL Week 2 behind us in the rear view mirror let’s reflect on what we’ve learned so far.  One, picking road teams to win might pay off but they will make you sweat.  Two, when divisional foes face off you can throw all the records out the door.  Three, teams that are 2 and 6 point favorites are usually begging for dead money to be bet on them.  Okay, maybe the first two are more helpful to Survivor league picks but I’m guessing some of you might want to use that information some time this season.

Using the above knowledge, here’s the games that I will stay away from this week…NE vs. MIA, GB vs. DAL, TEN vs. HOU, SEA vs. STL, IND vs. JAC and BAL vs. CLE.  The games that I considered are BUF vs. OAK, CHI vs. TB, SF vs. DET, NYG vs. CIN and SD vs. NYJ.   Anybody remember the lowly Dolphins coming into Chicago and beating them silly.  I remember that too and I fear the Bucs.  I never bet against Favre on Monday night.  I think SF will score on DET but I think Lions will return the favor.  I really like the Bills this year in a win-able AFC East but I like OAK’s running game too.  So that leaves me with the NYG over CIN.  I like the way the Giants are playing and I think the Bengals are on the verge of self-destruction.

Previous Weeks and Teams Used:
Week 1 - New England
Week 2 - Arizona

Get these players while you can as they look like they might be ready for take-off!

1. RB Darren Sproles - LT owners must get this guy and everyone else should try to steal him and trade to the LT owners!  I was able to get him in 3 of my 4 leagues on Sunday afternoon.

2. K Matt Prater - Looks like he is fairly accurate and DEN offense is hot!

3. WR Justin Gage - Top WR target for Kerry Collins!

4. TE John Carlson - 10 catches and 130 yards in first 2 games.  Who else can Hasselback throw too?

5. QB JT O’Sullivan - Worth a flyer if you’re in a pinch with his great Week 3 matchup against a terrible DET defense!

6. D/ST Buffalo - 2 solid performances against middle of the road offenses.  Look who’s coming to town in week 3… Oakland and it’s first year QB starter J. Russell!

Reliant Stadium Damage

Take a look at this picture of Reliant Stadium.  I’m thinking that cancelling the game is definitely the right thing to do at this time.  I hear there is debris on the field and water damage on the first level.  Besides, no one had power to watch TV in Houston and those that might have attended the game evacuated to other places anyways.

The game was moved to Nov. 9.  The Bengals-Texans game was moved to Oct. 26.  If you had any Texans or Ravens in your starting line-up, you should replace them immediately.  Good luck!

Here we go into Week 2, without Brady, Colston, Burleson, Merriman and others.  My oh my what a turbulent season it has been already.  Well, I’m here to help you get through all that and give you some more help in finding some undervalued replacements fot this week.  Meanwhile, I want to lead you away from some normal every week plays.

Start button

QB - Warner (good matchup at home vs MIA)
RB - Fargas (2 more weeks until McFadden takes over)
WR - S. Moss (good matchup against NO)
TE - LJ Smith (McNabb needs outlet besides Westbrook)
K - Longwell (lots of work this week)
DST - Seattle (SF will turn it over at least 3 times)

bench1.jpgQB - Hasselback (no one to throw to)
RB - Addai (not a good matchup and dinged up)
WR - Any Saints receiver (too many to start just one)
TE - Dallas Clark (banged up)
K - Nugent (hurt)
DST - Cowboys (PHI should keep it close)

spreadIn the past, I always looked at week 1 as a hole that I would have to crawl out of all year.  Well turn the page and away we go!  I got off to a career best 11-5 start this year and I’m looking for the big year!

Last week I played many favorites and traditionally better teams.  I got burned going against a couple of home dogs but you can’t win them all!  This week I am leaning towards a more balanced selection of dogs and favs.

CAR (-3) vs. CHI
BUF (+6) @ JAC (changed my mind on this one)
KC (-4) vs. OAK (changed this one too)
MIN (+2) vs. IND
NO (-0.5) @ WAS
NYG (-9) @ STL
GB (-3) @ DET
TEN (+1.5) @ CIN
SEA (-8) vs. SF (changed this one too)
ARI (-7) vs. MIA
ATL (+8.5) @ TB
NYJ (-2.5) vs. NE
DEN (+2.5) vs. SD
BAL (+4.5) @ HOU
PIT (-6) @ CLE
PHI (+6.5) @ DAL

Good Luck!

SurvivorWow, we almost saw a mass exodus off the island when KC was driving for the tying touchdown in Foxborough on Sunday.  I said in my Week 1 survivor pick that I thought this would be one of the fastest pool deciding years ever.  It looks like the Colts and the Chargers obliged as my pools lost about 25% of the players in the first week.

Teams Used:
Week 1 - NE
- Survived Brady injury

The trend of tough pickin’s continues this week as the schedule is full of potholes and detours.   Here are the 5 games that stick out as potential Week 2 picks… NYG @ STL, ARI vs. MIA, SEA vs. SF, PIT @ CLE and TB vs. ATL.  Well, we all know my feelings on road teams so that eliminates NYG and PIT right off the bat.  I think both are safe but something tells me STL and CLE are not as bad as they showed in Week 1.  I can’t take a team that has no one to throw the ball to so goodbye SEA.  And the Bucs will be starting Brian Griese this week so I’m not a big fan of TB either.  Surprisingly to some that leaves ARI this week.  I really think they are a playoff team this year and will be a 10-6 team due to their week schedule.  Look for ARI to get past MIA as my Week 2 pick!

 Good Luck!

Each week a few players move to the forefront of the fantasy landscape.  Here are a few hot pick ups that you should snag while they are available!

1. Eddie Royal - Very in tune with Jay Cutler and may benefit from Marshall returning.

2. Matt Cassel - He inherits not only Brady’s weapons but that easy Pats schedule.

3. Sammy Morris - Pats will rely on veteran at goal line and on third down more.

4. Arizona Defense - The ability to get turnovers is gold and Cards are nuggets!

5. John Kasay - Panther Offense looks healthy and he will benefit greatly.
