There is some great Fantasy insight from ESPN in the video about Willis McGahee, Rudi Johnson, Tom Brady and others. Watch the video above and enjoy.

EnchiladaWell, when you think you can’t slip any lower, I have managed to create a new low water mark of a 5-7-1 week.  With only 7 weeks left to make a huge come-back I’ve decided I will no longer talk about the whole enchilada but rather focus on above .500 weeks from here on out.  I think that will have to suffice as a new motto for now.  I ask you again, can I do any worse?  The record is now 66-70-6.

SurvivorAlthough I’ve been knocked out of my survivor league by Adrian Peterson er… the Minnesota Vikings, I’ll still give the best team to pick in my opinion each week.  This week, New Orleans looks like your best bet against a lifeless STL ball club.

Warning of the Week: This week everyone might be really high on Pittsburgh especially since they thumped Cleveland in the first week of the season.  But remember, what it’s like to come off a short week for teams, Ben’s cage was rattled last week and the Browns are playing well.  Also be weary of Seattle.  The last time they faced an easy team at home like SF, New Orleans woke up and walked away with its first win.

TombstoneBeing an Eagles fan since age 3, I’ve seen some of the best and worst moments of the team in the last 30+ years.  The highs have included the 4th and 26 McNabb to Fred-X pass to rally to beat GB in the 2004 divisional playoff, the Miracle in the Meadowlands in 1978 and the Monday Night Randal Cunningham “Nice to meet you Mr. Banks” play.  The lows include the Chris Boniol Monday Night FG blunder in 1997, the Bounty Bowl (maybe that’s a high) and the losses in SB XV and XXXIX.

Last night, I realized that this 5-6 year stretch of dominance is done in the NFC and that the beginning of the end is nigh.   I feel bad for fellow Philly fans as we never reached the top of the mountain and now we are falling down the back side.  It’s obvious from the poor gameplans that Andy Reid’s mind is elsewhere and rightfully so.  McNabb is trying to stay healthy so he can get out of Philly in one piece next year.   He’s probably got one foot on the train to Chicago already.  The offensive line is so dinged up and old they can’t pass protect for anyone.  And poor Jim Johnson doesn’t seem to have enough players on Defense to executive his elaborate schemes.  Do you really think he schemed to leave Terrell Owens wide open?

What does this mean to the fantasy players?  Well, unless you are in a PPR league, I would avoid all Eagles at this point.  The only one worth his salt is Westbrook but he’s bound to get hurt soon if he’s the only target in front of the LBs.  Maybe LJ Smith will get some of those dump offs over time but the WRs should be dumped and McNabb should be traded off your roster.  If you’re in a keeper league and have the room, I’d pick up Kevin Kolb because someone will have to throw the ball next year when they without McNabb and behind by 21!

WildcatsMy teams were ugly this week.  I don’t normally comment on my results until Friday but I had to vent about how stupid I was with my roster decisions for the week.  I ended up going 1-3 on the week.  I lost 2 low-scoring games and 1 high-scoring game because I failed to recognize the better matchups.   I picked up Wes Welker in 3 of my leagues early this year and benefited greatly from his stellar week last week.  So I rewarded him with a benching in 2 of 3 leagues.  I also decided that Laverneus Coles versus a horrible Cincny defense was a bad idea.  Some days you need to listen to the advice you give and actually act on it.

By the way, that cheer was a line from the 1986 movie “Wildcats” with Goldie Hawn and a young Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes.  That leads me to the question of the day…

What was your favorite 80s football movie?   Although All the Right Moves was accurate, I always die laughing at Robin Williams in The Best of Times.

spreadI’ve recovered a bit to be a game above .500 now this year.  This looks like a dog week so don’t fear those spreads.

CIN (-3) @ KC – Too much firepower on Bengals side

HOU (+6.5) @ JAC – Texans have won previously in JAX

CLE (-5) vs. MIA – Dolphins starting a Lemon & give up 175 on ground

CHI (-6) vs. MIN – Bears due to blow out someone

PHL (+3) @ NYJ – Best of the worst is Eagles here

STL (+9.5) @ BAL – Ravens always seem to play down at home

TEN (+3) @ TB – Titans on a roll so this could go either way

WAS (+3) @ GB – Redskins match up well with Pack

NE (-5) @ DAL – Pats just too good for Boys in October

ARI (-4) vs. CAR – Cardinals back up QB way better than Panthers’

OAK (+10) @ SD – Chargers need to show something at home

SEA (-6.5) vs. NO – Not the week for Saints to get first win

NYG (+3.5) @ ATL – Giants may blow out Falcons by 20

Pencil and padIn order to get a little more variety of flavor into the blog space, I’ve asked my good friends to write some blog entries each week on any topic they feel relevant to fantasy football.

The first to accept is my fellow co-commish of our aptly named, 10 year old creation … Spaceballs the FFL. He’s been chasing the FF dream for as long as I have, with a modicum of success in championships as well as the experience of heartbreaking losses.

He shall from this day forth be known as … Money or whatever he wants to be known as … But today I’m calling him Money.

CalendarDoes anything move faster in life than the FF season from week 2 to week 10? Really, it seems like the draft day will never come and once the draft is complete Week 1 †akes forever to happen. But after Week 1 is done, and you get settled into your process each week of reading all of your info and data, the season seems to fly by until you get to the trade deadline.

It’s kind of like life when you’re a kid and you can’t wait for Christmas to get here and then it finally did. The next milestone you looked forward to was the end of the school year and then it was your birthday and then back to Christmas. It all became a blur didn’t it. Now it’s fantasy football season and life repeats itself.

CrutchesWell another thing that is repeating itself over and over this season is the injury bug. This may be the worst year of injuries I can remember. If you have managed to draft a team not affected by injuries then you are extremely lucky. In one of my leagues I just lost 3 second tier RBs in one week. Deuce and Cadillac for the year and Lamont Jordan for some time until his back is better.

Maroney and Westbrook owners are probably ready to throw those guys away. In the last two weeks I’ve seen Westbrook burn someone for not playing him against DET and I’ve seen someone else burned this week for playing him even though he went inactive late on Sunday. Yet another owner in my league lost last night when Maroney was inactive after practically no mention of his injury status all week.

As for me, it was a brutal week of head to head as I went 1-3 and it was an ugly 1-3. Sometimes you don’t mind losing if you were just outscored but this week I barely put points on the board. In fact it was probably the lowest scoring week of my 12 year history of playing this sport. Scary!!

On the other hand, I’m alive in a large survivor pool that has shrank from over 120 entries to 60 in 4 weeks. I’m glad I didn’t get run over by SD’s and Pittsburgh’s debacles like some this week.

Next blog will be a bit of a whine on how to ruin your fantasy season in one of my leagues in 5 easy draft day moves that I took!!

Question of the Day> What is the worst sports injury you have seen live on TV? I was unfortunate enough to have seen 2 bad ones live. Joe Theisman and Napoleon McCallum. You knew Joe’s leg was broke but seeing McCallum’s knee buckle and his thigh go forward while his knee go backwards was most gruesome thing I can ever remember.
